Software developers are well aware of the fact that players love to win big. While it is a hugely popular game, standard Blackjack does not pay massive prizes like games that are based on luck. That’s why some Blackjack variants come equipped with a progressive jackpot ticking away. What Is Progressive Blackjack and How to Play It

Just like its name suggests, this Blackjack variant offers a progressive jackpot. It is what makes Progressive Blackjack stands out from the crowd. As for other rules, they are the same as in the standard version of the game. At online casinos, Progressive Blackjack is typically played with 6 or 8 decks. The game starts with the dealer dealing two cards to the player and themselves with the dealer’s second card being dealt face-up. Progressive Blackjack can come in different variations provided by various software developers. At most of them, the dealer stands on a soft 17, which is considered a rule favourable to the player.

Now, let’s see how the progressive version of the game differs from the classic one. To play a Blackjack round, you must place the main bet. At Progressive Blackjack, the player can also play a side bet that will qualify them for a progressive jackpot. In most cases, it is of the same size as the main bet. Some Progressive Blackjack games can be played in the multi-hand mode, meaning that you can play more than one hand simultaneously.

As for the progressive bet which can be played optionally, you should know that a share of it goes instantly to the jackpot pool. If you have played progressive slots, you know that with every bet placed on these games, the prize pool increases. The same goes for Progressive Blackjack. When it comes to prizes, they may differ from game to game. Typically, the number of Aces in the player’s hand determines the size of the jackpot. That means that you can win the entire prize or a share of it.

Why Play Progressive Blackjack?

The answer to this question is simple – to make use of an opportunity to win a life-changing jackpot while playing your favourite game! A massive prize is a reason enough to place that optional bet. If you get lucky, you can scoop it with a single hand. Thanks to online casinos, you can do it from the comfort of your home or on the go. A progressive jackpot makes the gameplay more exciting. If you can, you should give this Blackjack variant a try for the sake of it.

What you should keep in mind when playing Progressive Blackjack is that a house edge on the side bet can be extremely high. When we say “extremely high”, we mean it. While the standard version of the game has a house edge of 0.50% or so, in the progressive game variant, the house margin can go all the way up to 40% and more. That means that your chances of winning a progressive jackpot are the same as winning the lottery. To put it simply, it is more about luck than skills. Nevertheless, you should not give up on it completely. Instead, you can play an optional side bet from time to time and see whether Lady Luck is on your side.
